Arts Collinwood introduces a new program, ArtPath

Arts Collinwood is pleased to announce our new art program for students in grades 9-12. The program, ArtPath, will lead the students on the path of the printmaker. Students will learn basic printmaking techniques, go on field trips, produce their own prints on paper and fabric and participate in an art and fashion show at the end of the program. There is no cost to participate in this program. To register for the class please, fill out the form below or contact Arts Collinwood at a.callahan@artscollinwood.org to have a copy mailed to you. Forms are also available at Arts Collinwood Thursdays through Saturdays from 11am-11pm. ArtPath is generously funded by Cuyahoga Arts and Culture and The Ginn Foundation. ArtPath is a no-cost, arts learning program for students in grades 9-12 designed to provide a hands-on creative experience combined with arts education and presentation.

This year’s ArtPath program is entitled Printmaking Basics on Paper and Fabric

What you will learn:

Learn the basics of printmaking from a professional artist.
Learn about famous printmakers and go on fieldtrips to see actual prints, print shops and fashion designs.
Create your own prints on paper and fabric.
Participate in peer critique sessions.
Meet local printmakers and fashion designers who will visit your class.
Show your design at an exciting print and fashion show in the Arts Collinwood Gallery in May.

Classes begin at Arts Collinwood in the Nan and Miles Kennedy Art Center on Thursdays from 3:00pm-5:00pm beginning January 26, 2012 and will run through May, 2012. Knitting Classes for Boys and Girls

The Cleveland Public Library presents “In Stitches”Â Knitting Classes for Boys and Girls Ages 10-14!

Who: Boys and Girls Ages 10-14
What: Learn how to knit Ipod/cell phone covers, wristbands, hats and cool stuff.
When: Wednesdays and Fridays – June 28 to August 6 – 12:30pm to 1:30pm

New Yoga Schedule!

Led by artist/yoga practitioner Lyz Bly, Arts Collinwood will be offering a series of Vinyasa Flow Yoga Tuesday Nights from 6pm – 7:15pm and Saturday mornings from 11:30am – 12:30 pm. Both Classes will be held in the gallery. Classes are $13 per session, and every second Saturday is Free!

Arts Collinwood’s Portfolio Project

Arts Collinwood’s Portfolio Project is an after school program designed to give middle school and high school aged students an exciting opportunityÂ to work directly with professional artists and experience the full spectrum of creating a portfolio, jurying a public art commission and creating an exhibit. Their work will be publicly recognized, and they will leave with a substantial body of work of their own creation.

Portfolio Project Mural

Arts Collinwood is currently seeking submissions from experienced mural artists to create an original design on the North elevation of our arts center building.Â The proposed image/concept should build on the work done by students in our Portfolio Project program, using their artistic discoveries, about themselves and their community, as a springboard for an original design. Happy Hour Classes in May

Wednesday nights in May are a great time at Arts Collinwood. Pick up dinner and refreshment in the Cafe and join us in the community center for Happy Hour Arts with experienced stained glass artist, Michelle Biondo. Make your own garden art, stained glass, or wrapped silver jewelry for only $15 per session. Summer Arts Camp Info

The Arts Collinwood Summer Arts Camp is designed to provide students with a small group experience. Not only do students explore a variety of art media, they learn to work as a team, and create a lifetime of memories. July 5 â€“ July 30, five days a week. Each week has a different creative focus. From 9:00am to 12:00pm in the Arts Collinwood Community Arts Center. The camp is for children ages 5- 12.
